Many symptoms are typical

(HealthDay News) -- Grief is the body's natural response to a major loss, such as the death or illness of a loved one or the end of a relationship.

The American Academy of Family Physicians says it's normal to express these emotions while grieving:

  • Feelings of anger, irritability or blame.
  • Frequent crying, depression or sadness.
  • Nausea, diarrhea or lack of appetite.
  • Rapid heartbeat or dizziness.
  • Shortness of breath or a tight feeling in the chest.
  • Insomnia, fatigue or problems with concentration and organization.
  • Headache.
