A nurse-driven protocol improves rates of pneumococcal vaccination. At one rheumatology clinic, the average rate of monthly vaccination increased from 4.3% at baseline to 12.6% in the two years after implementation; the proportion of patients who were fully vaccinated increased from 14.6% to 26.2%.
