Preventive Aspirin Rx Should Be Based on Benefit-Risk, Not Age

Primary care providers should prescribe aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD) based on an individual benefit-risk ratio, not age. In a meta-analysis of 10 studies, preventive aspirin produced a significant 13% reduction in CVD; benefits outweighed the risks when absolute CVD risk was >10%.
