Health Tip: When Your Child Rides With Someone Else

Suggestions to keep the youngster safe

(HealthDay News) -- Your child should always be safe in the car, even if you're not behind the wheel.

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends:

  • Making sure your car seat fits properly in the other person's car. If it's not your car seat, make sure it's installed properly.
  • Ensuring that any driver has a valid license.
  • Making sure there's always another adult in the vehicle to supervise the kids, so the driver can stay focused.
  • Making sure that any driver knows what to do in an emergency.
