(HealthDayNews) -- Are you looking to give your apartment a makeover?
Well, before you apply a fresh coat of paint, be aware that paint vapors move between units in apartment and condominium buildings.
The Maryland Department of Environmental Protection offers these healthy painting guidelines:
- Try scheduling paint jobs for dry periods in the fall or spring so windows can be left open.
- Keep windows wide open for about three days after painting.
- Use window-mounted box fans to exhaust vapors from the work area.
- Take frequent fresh air breaks while painting and avoid freshly painted rooms for about three days, if possible.
