By:

(HealthDay News) -- You can't always prevent jet lag, but there are things you can do to minimize symptoms, the National Sleep Foundation says.

Here's the foundation's advice:

  • Once you get to your destination, get some rays to help sync your internal clock to the time zone.
  • Don't nap while traveling.
  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol.
  • Before you go to sleep at your destination, turn off your cell phone so you won't be disturbed.
