The American Academy of Pediatrics offers this advice to help keep children safe:

  • Make sure kids are always placed in the back seat of the car.
  • It is not always necessary to install an on/off switch for air bags, unless your pediatrician recommends it because of your child's special needs.
  • When children must ride in the front seat because there is no alternative, push the seat back as far as it will go, and make sure the child is properly buckled in.
