ABS brakes make it easier control a car

(HealthDayNews) -- Anti-lock brakes (ABS) can be a life saver, especially on icy winter roads. They reduce the risk of spinning out of control and make it easier to keep control of a car, according to Transport Quebec.

But ABS brakes work differently from regular brakes. If you need to stop suddenly or on an icy road, don't pump the brakes. Simply hold the brake pedal down as far as possible. And don't let any vibration you feel in the pedal scare you. Some shaking is normal

Still, don't overestimate the power of an ABS system. The effectiveness of any brake system depends in large part on the state of your tires.
