Exercise-Induced Asthma

Avoid activities that can trigger asthma attacks

(HealthDayNews) -- If you suffer from exercise-induced asthma, you might want to unlace your ice skates and don a swimsuit instead.

According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, winter athletes including cross country skiers, ice skaters and hockey players are at the highest risk for exercise-induced asthma.

Swimming is often seen as the ideal sport for people with asthma because of the typical warm, humid atmosphere and the horizontal position of the body in the water.

Other activities less likely to trigger an asthma attack include walking, hiking, racquet sports, baseball and downhill skiing.
