Health Tip: Asthma Action Plan for Camp

Make an emergency list for counselors

(HealthDayNews) -- If your child has asthma and is going to summer camp, make sure the staff knows about his condition and what to do in case of an emergency, advises the National Jewish Medical and Research Center.

Develop an asthma action plan, including written instructions on what to do if your child's condition changes.

Your plan should include:

  • Triggers that could cause the asthma to flare up.
  • His peak flow zones.
  • Early warning signs of worsening asthma.
  • What to do and whom to call in an emergency.
