Health Tip: Avoid Straining Your Hip

Here are some risk factors

(HealthDay News) -- A hip strain occurs when tendons or muscles are stretched or torn.

To avoid the problem, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons advises:

  • Protect tissues that have already been injured, as they are more susceptible to another strain.
  • Gently stretch and loosen muscles.
  • Always warm up before exercise.
  • Gradually increase the duration and intensity of exercise. Too much exercise too quickly increases your risk of hip strain.
