(HealthDay News) -- Some seniors fear growing older, dimming the prospects for a rewarding retirement. But according to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital, there are things you can do to better enjoy older adulthood:

  • Maintain a positive self-image.
  • Maintain independence, including deciding where you'd like to live and keeping control of your finances.
  • Maintain a social network by joining groups or volunteering.
  • Practice good health habits, including exercising, eating right and managing stress.
