Lutein and Zeaxanthin

They're not a law firm

(HealthDayNews) -- Just when you think you know all the foods you have to eat to stay healthy, along comes something new.

The list of essential nutrients has grown by two: lutein and zeaxanthin. They're essential for preventing macular degeneration of the eyes, one of the major causes of vision loss in old age.

Wait, it gets worse. According to the British Journal of Ophthalmology, it used to be thought that leafy green vegetables would give you plenty of lutein and zeaxanthin. But now it turns out that leafy green vegetables aren't very good for these ingredients after all.

To keep your eyes looking bright, you should eat extra egg yolk, corn and kiwi fruit. Just don't tell your cardiologist.
