Walk Wisely

It's great exercise, if done with care

(HealthDay) -- Walking is great exercise, and if you're older, it's an easy way to stay in shape. But there can be risks, particularly from cars.

Guardian Security Services says pedestrians over 65 are most likely to be killed by cars. To avoid getting hit when crossing the street, the firm urges you to cross only at the corner, stay in the crosswalk, never cross against a traffic light, make sure all cars have stopped and watch for cars making turns.

It's important to remember that your safety is your responsibility. Never assume drivers will see you in time to stop, or that they'll obey the traffic laws.
