When To Stop Driving

A warning for older adults

(HealthDayNews) -- To many people, the ability to jump in the car and go where and when they want translates to independence. And that freedom can be hard to give up.

But the American Academy of Family Physicians warns that as all of us age, it can eventually impair our ability to safely handle a car.

Reasons to consider an end to your driving career include conditions such as arthritis, poor eyesight, and memory loss. The academy says it's important to follow your doctor's advice to keep yourself and others safe.
