Arthritis Myths

You can't cure it with bee venom

(HealthDayNews) -- What do people believe about arthritis? It depends -- largely on whether they have arthritis themselves.

Arthritis and Rheumatology conducted a random survey of 300 people and found:

  • 83 percent thought bee venom could cure arthritis.
  • 76 percent thought vitamins could cure arthritis.
  • 74 percent thought copper bracelets could cure arthritis.
  • 54 percent thought dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) could cure arthritis.

When the journal repeated the poll only for people who had arthritis, almost everybody who responded knew that there is no cure.
