Visualizing, Smelling Food Triggers Gastrocolonic Response

Sensory input affects gastrocolonic response in patients with idiopathic constipation. Among 89 patients, colonic manometry findings indicated that 52.8% of patients had a significant increase in motility index from baseline when visualizing or smelling food.
