Food Genies

Your tastes may be in your genes

(HealthDayNews) -- Did you know that some food preferences are genetically determined?

According to the Journal of the American Dietetic Association, researchers at the University of Cincinnati looked at 14 pairs of identical twins and 21 pairs of same-sex nonidentical twins to determine whether food preferences had specific links.

Because identical twins have the same genes and nonidentical twins don't, the researchers could compare between the groups to see if genes made a difference.

The results indicate that preferences for some foods really are determined by genes. The choices that made the list were: orange juice, broccoli, cottage cheese, chicken, sweetened cereal, and hamburger.
