(HealthDay) -- You've heard that a good breakfast is the best way to start the day. That may be especially true for women.
All breakfast cereals are fortified with folic acid. The nutrient is essential to women's health and is vital to a healthy pregnancy, says the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
Many women don't get the 400 milligrams of folic acid they need every day. The medical center says folic acid found naturally in foods like spinach isn't absorbed by the body as well as the kind found in cereals.
